The Virginia Geospatial Extension Program not only has access to state of the art training facilities at Virginia Tech, but we have access to other training venues that are geographically located across Virginia.

Center for the Environmental Applications of Remote Sensing

  • The CEARS laboratory is equipped with 25 networked (100 Mbs) workstations, a dedicated server with over 10 terabytes of disk storage, various printers and plotters, and a complete suite of image processing (ENVI, Merrick MARS, Definiens, Feature Analyst, ERDAS Imagine) and associated software, including compilers (IDL, Lahey Fortran 2003, Matlab, Visual Basic, and C++), statistical packages (R, SAS, CART), and GIS (ESRI products).

The microcomputer lab has 30 computers that support ESRI, Imagine, and other software products.
